Sessions are casual and laid back, typically lasting about an hour; sometimes more, sometimes a little less. Children will have the freedom to be themselves, allowing me the opportunity to capture their true personality. If you are wanting a wardrobe change, I'll typically start the session in the more formal clothes and end with the more casual, comfortable clothes.

what can I expect at a session...

Sessions can take place anywhere and everywhere. Possibilities include your home, a nearby park, an urban or rural area, etc. Feel free to share your ideas or I can suggest some places. If you are wanting a session in your home, it is important that there is good natural light.

Because I shoot only with natural light, outside sessions are offered in the morning and late afternoon when the light is generally best.

where does our
shoot take place?

The best family wardrobes are coordinated without matching too much. Prints and patterns are perfectly fine but try to steer away from shirts with text, black cotton, or a high contrast wardrobe (e.g. one child in white another in black).
Bright colors, layers, and textures are perfect to show off your kids’ unique personalities. However, simple also goes a long way. You may have other outfits, but keep in mind that your baby or child may get grouchy if there are too many clothing changes.

how can I prepare for my session...

Please make sure your little one is ready for the session, i.e., naps, feedings, etc. If your child does not feel well or is sick please re-schedule. Bring a snack and drink with you in case they get hungry along the way. I also like for you to bring something that is special to the child like a teddy bear or a special blanket. They are only little once!

what if I have to cancel...

Please give me 48 hours advance notice if you need to reschedule. Sessions rescheduled in advance will simply be transferred to a new date and time. If your child does not feel well or is sick, please re-schedule.

The editing process is completed by 2 weeks from our session date. You will receive an email with a link to your password protected gallery, along with information about navigating the site.

how long before i see my pictures...

All of my photography services include the digital images and printing rights. However, some clients prefer to order prints directly from their online gallery through my professional lab.

Yes! I love to travel, for both my family sessions and my fine art school photography. If you would like to inquire about hosting a portrait party , contact me for more details. I have traveled all of the United States (and Europe) for shoots. It is easiest to book me in the Nashville area but I often travel to Birmingham, Greenville and Asheville.

The best shoots typically involve at least one simple activity such as making cookies, playing a favorite game, taking a family walk, or stopping for a cup of tea.
